Teisipäeval, 15.mail algusega kell 12.00 toimub Õigusakadeemia ringauditooriumis (Siili tn 14) argentiina föderaalkohtuniku Sergio Torres´i ingliskeelne avatud loeng teemal “Human Rights and Justice. Argentina as a leading case in seeking justice for crimes against humanity”.

Sergio Gabriel Torres on kriminaal- ja korrektsiooni asjade föderaalkohtunik (Federal Magistrate) Buenos Aireses, Argentiinas. Ta juhib ESMA juhtumi arutamist, mis hõlmab üle 800 illegaalse arestimise, piinamise, isikute kadumise ning surmajuhtumit, mis pandi toime mereväe mehhaanikakoolis (ESMA), kus 1976 – 1983 aastatel valitseva sõjaväelise diktatuuri ajal tegutses üks suurimaid salajasi kinnipidamiskeskusi.

Federal Judge, Sergio Torres, will deliver a public lecture entitled “Human Rights and Justice. Argentina as a leading case in seeking justice for crimes against humanity“. The lecture, which will be given in English, will be held in Tallinn University Law School (14, Siili Street, Tallinn) on Tuesday, May 15th at 12.00.

Sergio Gabriel Torres is a Federal Magistrate in Criminal and Correctional Matters in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He presides over the ESMA case, which involves more than 800 cases of illegal detentions, torture, disappearances and deaths committed at the Navy School of Mechanics (ESMA), where one of the largest clandestine detention centers operated during the 1976-1983 military dictatorship.
