A SMALL OVERLOOK ON RUI & INÊS TANGO BACKGROUND AND PHILOSOPHY:

Inês has been dancing tango for almost 8 years. She has finished her degree in dance at the Superior School of Dance in Portugal (Escola Superior de Dança). This degree has given her a solid background on Classical and Contemporary Dance.

Rui has been dancing and teaching tango for more than 16 years (as long as he has been teaching Martial Arts). He started to learn Ballroom Dancing when he was 13 years old and at the age of 17 he was already teaching and investing on Salsa and Argentine Tango. Nowadays, Rui has his own dance school in Portugal called THE STREAM and teaches regularly in Coimbra, Lisbon and Leiria.

Together, Rui & Inês have learned tango from some of the best tango teachers and dancers of our times. Mariano “Chicho” Frumboli & Juana Sepulveda (open embrace technique), together with Sebastian Arce & Mariana Montes (close embrace technique) have been their primary guide lines. But also other argentine teachers and dancers have had a major impact on Rui & Inês development; such has Alejandra Mantiñan, Adrian Veredice & Alejandra Hobert, Esteban Moreno & Claudia Codega, Pablo Villarraza & Dana Frigoli, Pablo Rodriguez & Noelia Hurtado, Pablo Inza, Julio Balmaceda & Corina de la Rosa, Gastón Torelli & Moira Castellano.

In Portugal (Lisbon) they have also learned from Juan Capriotti & Graciana Romeo (argentine dancers and teachers living in Portugal), for whom they have worked has tango teachers and dancers for 2 years (2008/2009 & 2009/2010).

Therefore, Rui & Inês conciliate an extensive experience, as teachers and dancers, with the best education, both technical and pedagogy that Portugal and Argentina have to offer in the areas of dance in general and tango in particular.

Due to a profound reflection on the natural and organic movement of the human body, this Portuguese couple has developed a teaching method of tango dancing, founded on a sensitive communication between the couple which is both innovative and effective, allowing anyone to easily learn how to dance tango.

In their teaching method, Rui & Inês harmonize the different styles of tradicional tango (milonguero and salón) with the new overviews around it (tango nuevo), providing their students with the tools that allow them to dance with anyone, no matter the style that person is comfortable
